They look simple, don’t they? These forums run on BBPress, a WordPress message board plug in. It should go without saying that you need to register at valice.net to use these forums. If you registered previously at memoria.valice.net, your account has been enabled on this main site, if it hadn’t been already.
If you’re coming from the valice.net old forums and never logged in for some reason to valice.net, you will have to make a new account. No big loss really, since we’re essentially starting over again anyway. I realize that these new forums don’t have many features yet, but more should be integrated at the system advances. Right now BBPress is still in early development. But who needs all the fancy stuff when we have each other! Just be patient for now.
If you’re wondering, I didn’t just give up on the seven year old Valice.net forums, nor will I remove them from the site. I tried converting them, but it was a messy process that didn’t really work. Then I got to figuring… why? New posts had become very rare, the forum structure was really outdated, and I had no motivation to work on them anymore. IPB is also a bloated system that I’m simply tired of keeping up on after all these years, and it’s always been a pain keeping them tied to valice.net. It took me a while to come up with the decision to go full WordPress and start the forums over again, but in the end I decided to just go with it. Starting over can be fun anyway.
As I said, these forums are quite limited right now, so I would just focus on having conversations. No signatures,
no images(use [ img ] tag), not much to look at yet, but I’ll see what I can do along the way. If you want an avatar, sign up on gravatar.com using the email you’re registered with at valice.net.I hope to see a lot of old faces popping in, and maybe I’ll assign some admin positions down the road. Perhaps even create a few connected WordPresses for anyone that thinks they can maintain them.
Oh, and I’ll also start whitelisting players for our Minecraft server very soon.
