Harmony
Comic Style: Generally small, simple panels. Larger ones should be saved for more important moments, maybe with additional details. Pages should be tall for extra room. We need to fit a lot of stuff in a small space.
Cover: The four heroes basically just there, in the same space, among a shadowy town. Hovering over them is a giant shadow spider-robot in a familiar shape from Mother 3. You can probably just use something official and already made and just turn it black and photoshop it.
Part 1
Begin with with a fairly large panel. Four robots, one with a cap on, are shadows against the red swirling mass known as Giygas, who is a mutant mess of phantasm and is beginning to break apart. Porky, in his first spider machine, watches in horror.
Narration
Twelve years ago, a creature known only as Giygas, the universal cosmic destroyer
was aided by a boy who was once our neighbor, was defeated by four heroes. Four friends, who had gone to such lengths as to give the minds to metal and travel back in time millions of years.
Next panel, to the right, smaller, can be above another small one. This little prologue should only take three panels. We see young Tracy, Mom, and King looking at each other with worried expressions.
Narration
But they couldn't do it alone. A great fear came over and us, and the only thing that we
could do was to send them our thoughts… Wishes that transcended space and time,
and somehow, finally defeated Giygas.
The final prologue panel shows the chosen four waking up in Saturn Valley, surrounded by Mr. Saturn, Apple Kid, and Dr. Andonuts. They look tired.
Narration
And the leader of those four was Ness; my older brother. And with twelve years past
since, we had never considered that we'd ever be haunted again…
We see the college town of Fiveton from the sky. A minivan is heading down the road.
Narration
The University Town of Eagleland, Fiveton.
Go down into the minivan. Tracy and Picky, fresh out of high school, are in the back with the windows rolled down. Mom is driving, a few wrinkles on her face.
Mom
There it is, you two. Wow, what a site.
Tracy
Would be nice if the air conditioning was working, though.
Picky
This heat wave is insane. Should've brought some wet towels.
Mom
Oh, you two will forget all about the heat soon. You'll be too excited touring the schools.
Picky
Yeah, thanks again for bringing me along.
Mom
Think nothing of it, Picky. You're Tracy's best friend.
Picky (to Tracy)
Yeah, and my parents would've never found time to bring me down here…
The van pulls up into a parking lot, near one of the schools. Everyone gets out and looks around.
Mom
Ah, that should be the building. Hope Jeff hasn't gone anywhere. We are five minutes late…
They go onto the campus and up the stairs to the entrance. A few of the college students have on shirts with the school mascot, a weight with "5 Ton" on it, angry eyes, and muscle arms. Inside, Jeff is talking to several other professors and notices Mom walk in. He adjusts his rimless glasses and walks on up.
Mom
Professor Andonuts, look how you've grown.
Jeff
Heh. Glad you all could make it.
Tracy
Hi, Professor Jeff!
Jeff
Hello, Tracy. Picky. Liking Fiveton so far?
Tracy
Dunno. We came straight here.
Jeff
Well, it's a very nice town. I'll have to show you around later. So… I guess we can go ahead and start
the tour. Follow me. We'll go straight to the labs. We have really good labs.
They begin walking down the hall, while Jeff starts casual conversation.
Jeff
So how are Ness and Paula doing?
Mom
Oh, yes. I'm about to be a grandmother, you know.
Jeff
Yeah, I can't believe Paula's having a kid. Is Tracy excited?
Mom
She can't wait… We still don't know if it's a boy or girl, but the doctors are saying…
Their conversation fades out as we switch to Tracy and Picky and follow them down the halls.
Picky
Nice place… We're lucky we can both afford it.
Tracy
This is so exciting. I just wish that Dad was here instead of on a business trip.
Picky
At least you've got parents that care about you.
Tracy
Oh, Picky… I'm sure your parents—
Picky
Nah, they really don't. Ever since their favorite son disappeared, I basically stopped existing to them.
It's not that I really mind, though. I mean, I feel like I have nothing in common with them. Mom's always
shopping, and Dad's too busy being the mayor.
Tracy
Yeah… Mom can't stand him. She wants to move. Says Onett's turning into a corporate wasteland.
Picky
Man, remember that fundraising dinner he invited you to?
Single panel flashback of Mom and Tracy looking terrified at a large dinner table filled with food. Aloysius is shouting random political garbage while making a toast, while horrible ugly Lardna is laughing like a mad person next to Tracy's mom. Picky facepalms in embarrassment.
Picky
It was right after they remarried for the third time, and everything had alcohol in it…
Tracy
That… it something I'd like to forget.
They arrive at the lab, filled with computers. Jeff smiles and really sells the technology to Mom, who looks excited. Tracy and Picky instead just take seats at two computers, turn to one another, and chat.
Picky
Trace… You still getting those really bad headaches?
Tracy
Yeah… most mornings, right after waking up. What about you and your nightmares?
Picky
Same thing every night. I still can't even explain what I'm seeing. Although sometimes my brother
appears in some sort of spider machine.
Tracy
I can't stop wondering if my headaches have something to do with PSI.
Picky
That special thing Ness could do, right?
Tracy
Yeah. I've been thinking for awhile now, too… There's really nothing stopping me from using the same
powers he could. I mean, we're siblings, after all.
Picky
Hm…
PAGE CHECK: Shouldn't be past 4 at this point. (excluding cover)
Mom
Well, it's a very nice laboratory, Jeff. Where should we go next?
Jeff
This heat's getting to me. Would you like to check out the old creamery for some ice cream before
we continue?
Tracy
That sounds great!
Picky
Yeah, definitely.
They go back outside and down the street. They begin sweating right away.
Jeff
Whew, it's hot… Creamery's right near by, though. Popular hangout for the students.
We see the creamery. An animu-style cow head is above it next to the words "HAPPY COW ICE
CREAM." A bored looking teenage employee is dusting off the sidewalk with a broom. There's also a chubby figure outside and a bit to the side of the creamery selling rabbits in cages. There's a dumpster near the shop we should see, but it's not important yet.
Tracy
How many flavors do they have?
Jeff
Eighty-two, last time I checked.
Picky
Hope they have pizza flavored ice cream.
They go across the street and pass by the rabbit vendor. He holds up a white rabbit to Paula.
Marvin
Hello… miss. Would you like to buy a rabbit?
Tracy
No thanks, but they're very cute.
Marvin
Thanks… I breed them that way.
Mom
Who was that?
Jeff
Marvin. He sells rabbits.
Picky
Yeah, that's not strange at all.
Jeff
He might be a bit weird, but he's a really nice guy. I don't have the heart to tell him that I get all my
science rabbits from him.
They go into the creamery, which is mostly empty except for the guy behind the counter and a little girl licking a scoop in a cone by the counter.
Jeff
Ah… I'd stay here all day just for the air conditioning.
Suddenly, the lights flicker off, and there's a light rumbling in the air.
Picky
Hey… you feel that? What is that?
Jeff
I have no idea. Maybe they haven't been paying their electric bill.
Suddenly, a dark blue glowing tear begins to form near the girl (use photoshop affects to create distortion). She stares at as her scoop drops to the floor. She then screams and runs away.
Ice Cream Guy
Holy smokes! Let's get out of here!
He runs away, past Jeff and the others.
Picky
So… I guess this means no ice cream.
Jeff
How unusual… I'd like to study this anomaly, but it looks like it's getting bigger…
Tracy
I think… we should get out of here.
Everyone except Jeff runs away. Jeff adjusts his glasses and focuses on the growing sphere.
Jeff
Most peculiar…
Jeff leaves. Outside, there is a growing crowd of onlookers. Jeff waves to them calmly.
Jeff
Get back, everyone. Something unexplainable is going on in there, and—
Jeff is cut off by the shop exploding, and being sucked into the time tear. The guy out front drops his broom and darts off. Marvin takes his bunnies and runs like the wind. The time tear gets bigger and eats what is left of the shop.
Student
No! Not the Happy Cow!
Student
That sucks, dude…
Jeff
Um, okay… Right. I think everyone should get to safety inside the school.
Mom
That means you two. Come on.
Picky and Tracy don't move, instead focusing on the tear.
Jeff
The important thing is not to panic—
Student
Run for your lives! It's going to engulf us all!
Jeff
No, now that's the wrong course of action—
All the students panic and make a mad dash to the school. Mom and Jeff are caught in the crowds.
Jeff
Settle down! I implore that you remain orderly!
Mom
Tracy, Picky! Get inside the school!
The crowds disappear, leaving Picky and Tracy by themselves. Gray clouds have appeared overhead, and the wind has picked up. The tear finishes growing, the last thing it consumes being the Happy Cow head. Suddenly, it shrinks back to a much smaller size, but remains floating in the ruins of the shop.
Picky
Wow. Okay, so what do you think that was?
Tracy shrugs. The two carefully walk up to the shop and notice a figure on the ground. Tracy picks up the broom and the two cautiously approach. They come up to the figure wearing a dress.
Picky
Think she's okay?
Tracy pokes her a bit with the broom. She gets up right away, dusts herself off, and adjusts her glasses, much to their amazement.
Lydia
What kind of way is that to greet someone? Poking them with a broom? You must be primitives.
Tracy and Picky are speechless. Lydia coughs a few times and then brings her watch to her face and presses a button. A holograph activates, showing the world and the current date and time.
Lydia
What the? This isn't where I'm supposed to be.
Lydia turns to the time tear and puts her fingers to her chin.
Lydia
And that's supposed to have disappeared by now.
Lydia turns back to the two.
Lydia
Either of you seen my doll?
Both
Uh…
Lydia
Sigh… He's gotta be nearby.
Lydia digs into some rubble.
Tracy
Who are you?
Lydia
My name's Lydia. I was traveling with my father—time traveling. But something happened that wasn't
supposed to, we got separated, and now I'm here. Ah, there you are.
Lydia pulls out a Mr. Saturn doll by the bow and holds it at her side.
Picky
Wait, you come from the future? Woah… It's like, happening all over again.
Tracy
What is?
Picky
Remember the meteor in Onett? Well, when Ness came with Porky to find me that night, this robotic
bee thing came down and said it was from ten years in the future, and everything was devastation.
Lydia
I don't know what you're talking about, but our world certainly is pretty devastated.
Picky
Ah-ha! So you've come here to see to it that we prevent that from happening! Let's go! (power fist)
Lydia and Tracy just stare at him.
Lydia
Um, well, no. I come from far in the future. So, you know, not even your grandkids would be able to
fix it.
Tracy
Oh… What's in like in you future? How far ahead in time is it from now?
Lydia
I probably shouldn't say what year I come from. But my daddy and I live in a world where the resource
wars have destroyed almost all the major cities. There aren't very many places to live anymore.
Tracy
That's terrible…
Lydia
Yeah, well, it's not like it's a future you have to worry about. Look, I could really use your help finding
my daddy so I can go home. Will you help me.
Tracy and Picky look at one another. Picky shrugs.
Picky
Um, okay.
Lydia
Oh, good! Let's start by getting out of this mess.
They get back on the main road, Tracy taking the broom with her. Lydia turns around and looks at the time tear.
Lydia
Huh… I'm a little worried about that thing. If I remember, a time tear like that exists in all times at once
and can distort reality around it as well as bring in all sorts of random things from other eras, and
eventually cause the destruction of everything around it.
Tracy and Picky stare at her.
Lydia (shrugs)
Well, let's hope I'm wrong. So who should we talk to?
Tracy
Um… I guess we should ask Jeff what he thinks about all this.
Lydia
Okay. Take me to this Jeff.
The three head off towards the school. Picky whispers to Tracy.
Picky
A normal Summer might be nice for a change…
